So let’s see some of the wonderful first books I’m giving away, shall we.
I have to start with my two favorites.
By Sue-Ellen’s alter ego Allie Mackay we have Highlander In Her Bed.
Gel Friday and I were at the used book store and she found it and said “Mom I think you”ll like this one.” Boy was she ever right, I love Allie’s books and the humor in them. And at the time I didn’t know they were written by SE because I really wasn’t on the web yet.
Orphaned after her parents were killed by Comanches, Loretta Simpson still lives in terror that the warriors will return—her fear so powerful, she is no longer able to speak a word.
Hunter of the Wolf believes that Loretta is a woman of ancient prophecy whom he must honor. But Loretta can only see him as the enemy who has kidnapped her, and she refuses to succumb to his control—or his touch.
Despite the hatred between their peoples, Loretta and Hunter gradually find their enmity changing to respect and care. In the midst of such conflict, it will take all the force of their love to find a safe haven.
There are several series I love by Jennifer Ashley but I’m going to pick her Nvengaria series.
“Do you still want me to show you what Nvengarians enjoy in bed?” Damien asked.
Penelope looked at him under her lashes, her cheeks flushed. “Yes.”
He felt a tightening in his groin. “I am pleased to hear you say that.”
She lifted her chin, though her eyes were wary. “I hardly want you to run off to another Nvengarian woman
because you believe me too hesitant.”
He traced his fingers along her cheek, turning her to face him. “Ah, Penelope. What I have to teach you will
take many years to learn. I am a patient enough to spend every day teaching you, if need be.”
He touched his mouth to Penelope’s upper lip. She hungrily leaned into the kiss, but he pulled away.
She sent him a look of frustrated need.
“We’ll do this slowly,” he said. “But do not worry. I will teach you everything….”
OK OK, there is another series of hers I love too – The Highland Pleasure series shall we meet Ian??
It was whispered all through London Society that Ian Mackenzie was mad, that he’d spent his youth in an asylum, and was not to be trusted-especially with a lady.
Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord. Despite his decadence and his intimidating intelligence, she could see that he needed help – her help.
Because suddenly the only thing that made sense to her was…the madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie.
Nina Bangs is another Favorite, I love all of her series but I’ll force myself to pick just one….The Castle of Dark Dreams series. Oh Eric, you can come bite me now….
Welcome to the Castle of Dark Dreams.
It’s the yummiest attraction in Live the Fantasy, an adult theme park where women who dare can take sexy role-playing to new erotic heights. Just by looking at the castle you know that only dangerously tempting men would play here. Three brothers—Eric, Brynn, and Conall McNair—run the castle. Okay, so they’re not quite human, but that’s a secret. This night Eric, the castle’s resident vampire, will prove that he’s everything bad should be.
Talk-show host Donna Nolan is on the trail of the weird and wacky in the Castle of Dark Dreams. But thoughts of a juicy interview to enthrall her listeners disappear when she meets Eric. With the coldest blue eyes and the hottest mouth she’s ever seen, he’s a primitive call to the wild in every woman.
Love between a talk-show host and a vampire shouldn’t be possible, but then, strange things happen in the Castle of Dark Dreams.
Let’s go visit some more vampires shall we???
How about a little humor, I’m the Vampire That’s Why Broken Heart series by Michele Bardsley.
Broken Heart is the city with the highest rate of divorce and highest percentage of single parents in Oklahoma. And I, Jessica Matthews, have been a member of that club ever since my husband dumped me for his twentysomething secretary and then had the gall to die in a car accident.
Now I’m not just a single mother trying to make ends meet in this crazy world….I’m also a vampire. One minute I was taking out the garbage; the next I awoke sucking on the thigh of superhot vampire Patrick O’Halloran, who’d generously offered his femoral artery to save me.
But though my stretch marks have disappeared and my vision has improved, I can’t rest until the thing that did this to me is caught. My kids’ future is at stake…figuratively and literally. As is my sex life. Although I wouldn’t mind finding myself attached to Patrick’s juicy thigh again, I learned that once a vampire does the dirty deed, it hitches her to the object of her affection for at least one hundred years. I just don’t know if I’m ready for that kind of commitment….
Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy
It’s been a hell of a day for Abby Barlow. In just a few hours, she’s survived an explosion, watched her employer die, had a startling dream, and now she finds herself in a seedy Chicago hotel with the sexy, unearthly Dante, a man she both desires and fears.
For 341 years, Dante has stood as guardian to The Chalice, a mortal woman chosen to hold back the darkness. A terrible twist of fate has now made Abby that woman. Three hours ago, Dante would have used all his charms to seduce her. Now she is his to protect. And he will do so until his very death.
A terrifying plan has been set in motion, one that will plunge Dante and Abby into an epic battle between good and evil—and a desperate race to save their love…
And from Kathryn Smith we have her The Brotherhood of Blood series and Be Mine Tonight.
For nearly six centuries I have roamed the night, a mortal man no longer. Would that I could undo the past — when I entered the sanctuary of the Knights Templar to wrest from them the Holy Grail, only to discover the chalice I raised to my lips was not the sacred relic but a hellish cup of damnation. Now I shun the day and all things human, driven by an ungodly thirst. And yet…
Never have I known a maiden the like of Prudence Ryland, whose beauty and spirit awaken a heart I feared long cold and dead. But her young life is slipping away, and she also seeks the deliverance of the Grail — unaware that the cost of her search could be her soul. I must help Prudence, for in six hundred years, no other woman has stirred my passions so. But dare I tender to my beloved that which she most desires — the sensuous “gift” of forever that is both rapture and a curse: my immortal kiss?

Happy to hear about your test results!! yayy! I think for question #1 it’s good to let the author know and those people will probably start to follow you too and for #2 either option is great!

First, “Yeahhh” that your test results are okay and second Congrats also to Denny.
If I understand the question I’d say that other people who may not have been here before end up winning a prize may mean they will stay and sign on to be new followers. The more the merrier , right ? lol
And second, Anyway you do it Zina is fine with me. You could mix it up, group them by genre and/or Author or just one book at a time which will allow you to either have giveaways a lot more often or unload a lot of books you no longer need or want. 🙂 Either way I’m here to stay with or without books.
Carol L
Did you get your book from Lucy Monroe’s Reader Retreat giveaway ? Saw you listed as a winner also 🙂

I haven’t received it yet. I was excited to see my name as I missed the last two days. I think I will do a little of both I think. Thanks Carol 😉

First of all, let me say a big “Phew” for you on the test results and good for you for pinning down your doctor to explain exactly what they mean. Congratulations to Denny on his job too. In this day and age, getting a job is so difficult so this shows he really has some talents to offer.
You have a great idea going here. I feel like mixing things up a bit is fun. It gives the winners a chance to try authors they have not yet read. As to how many to send? That depends upon the number you need or want to “find a home for” and, very importantly, the amount of money in the old postage jar. Winners need to realize that mailing these babies isn’t cheap! 😉
I love how you’re always coming up with new ways to keep things fun here at the blog. I always enjoy seeing what you have to say.
Oh yes! Are the trees at their peak up there? Would love to see some pics. Hint… 😉

Breath of relief! So happy for you and Denny that things are going well.
I agree with the other comments, if new followers win or stopper bys win that is great! Hope it makes them stick around and enjoy the fun! And I know mailing books can add up fast, so do what you think is easier. Sometimes it is a better deal to stick a few in a mailer than one by one. But sometimes it is nice to just send one off. And it is ALWAYS fun to find new authors!! Great list, I have a few I need to add to my TBR list now!

Wonderful news for both you & Denny, Zina. That has to be a relief on both fronts.
Whichever works best & is easiest for you on the rest…Winners usually turn into followers don’t they?
You’ve got some great series up there! We all know I love the Allie books & have them all. Ditto w/ Alexandra’s Guardians & Nina’s Castle srs..
HRH is crying, gotta go..

1 – yes I think an author should know – then it is their choice as to whether or not they want to check out your review 2 – I would love to win a bunch of books but to be fair I think 1 book to multiple winner is the best – spreading the wealth – Also good news on your test results – thanks

I am so happy to hear the good news about you and Denny! It brought a huge smile to my face. 🙂
Those were some good questions you asked. As someone who has followed you for awhile, I feel it would be great to open it to all who visit and leave comments. No telling how many new followers you will bring in by doing that. I just posted a link to your blog on my FB page and will continue to do so in hopes it brings people your way. When I believe in something, like I do about you and your blog, I will shake my pom poms quite furiously! LOL! About how to send the prizes….. I would think of the cost first. If it’s easier to send in bundles, then that’s the route I would go or vice versa. Everything is so expensive anymore and I think everyone understands that. You have always gone above and beyond with your blog here and it’s very much appreciated.

Sending healing thoughts your way so hopefully this head cold will pass. My son and future daughter-in-law (Nov. 10th and I’m so excited!) were sick with it last weekend when I gave their shower.

Super news on your MRI as well as Denny’s job!
I’d agree with everyone else about the cost angle. It’s such a thrill to win *anything* I don’t think anyone will quibble either way.

Zina, many congrats to you and Denny! What wonderful news for both of you!
I think you should continue to let authors know when you are reviewing their books. Hopefully it will bring in more subscribers for you. After all, the more the merrier.
I like bundle books a bit better, but whatever is easier and cheaper for you. If you give out single books, there will be more winners, which will also be good.
I sent out a copy of this newsletter to two friends. I think I have also done that before since I think I saw that one of them had posted here one day.

Great news about your test results and Denny’s job prospects!
Do whatever you want about promoting your blog – I’m sure there are more people out there who would enjoy the visits.
I’m often unsure if I should enter for groups of books where I’ve read the majority of them, I wouldn’t want to take them away from other readers when I’ve already enjoyed them. Cause then if I win it feels rude to suggest that I don’t want/need them all.

Oct 19, 2012 @ 17:42:16
Oh no I think I have entered for a book bundle and told the hostess that if I won I already had a certain book and she could award that one to another winner. And if that happens here just let me know, I have no problem with giving away books people already have.
Thank you Diane

Zina, I agree that you should let authors know that you are reviewing their books on your blog. I also think you should handle your blog any way you see fit, including how you give books away.

I would think it’s always good to get new blog followers and you might get some that win even tho they aren’t followers but I would think it would be a great help to recruit new people so let everyone have a chance to win. It would seem like a big present to get a bunch of books at once then they could be read at a persons leisure rather than waiting for them to dribble in. Glad your MRI came up good news.

Thanks to Sue-Ellen letting me know about your blog! I’m looking forward to coming back often!
I was glad to here that your test results came back okay! I’ve been there so I know exactly how you feel!
I love the books you’ve been reading and whatever name Sue-Ellen/Allie goes by I love her books!
I loved her “Allie” book, Highlander In Her Dreams, when I read it back in 2007 but at the time Kindles weren’t around so if you didn’t pick up a book when it was released or your local bookstore never got it at all you were out of luck!
I’d love to win a copy of Knight in My Bed!
I want to make sure all my friends know about your blog so I posted on Facebook!

To answer your question, I’d be happy to win a single book or a set of books. I should add that I already have all of Sue-Ellen’s books you are offering and I’ve also got Michele Bardsleys’ I can highly recommend them; they were excellent reads!

I also came from finding you through Sue-Ellen. I have a handful of blogs that I enjoy very much and I would love to give yours a try. Besides learning about new books and authors, I enjoy the give and take in blogs that aren’t too huge. As to your questions, I would say do whatever you feel is right and if I’m lucky enough to win, I would be thrilled with anything. Thanks!

Sounds like things are looking up for the family. Hopefully Denny’s training won’t take too long.
Great news on your MRI. I know what my children would be saying if I told them an MRI of my head found nothing. I am sure the further evaluation will come back with good news.
I too linked to your blog via Sue-Ellen Welfonder’s site.
Bundling books together is a nice prize for someone to win, but if they are given away individually, more people get a chance to win. A bit of both perhaps.
It will lessen our chances, but getting the word out to attract more followers is a good thing for you.

So happy about the test results and Denny’s soon to be promotion. I must say, I just found your blog today and have signed up to follow your blogs. Love your style of sharing books you love. As for the questions, I found your blog through one of the authors who’s book you are giving away advertising it on facebook. I think every post you have will help get your name out there for others to find. As for the giveaways, follow your heart and do what feels right. Some really good books here. Would love to read “When Darkness Comes” and “Comanche Moon” first.
