Good Morn to all.
Ah yes, how I love this series and I hope you will too after hearing all about this suspense filled series by Cate Beauman. Cate was our guest yesterday, and don’t forget she is giving away a digital copy of her latest book Waiting For Wren, so go back and take a look at yesterday’s post.
So let’s start with the covers. Cate has been blessed by the cover Gods. While you will find all the yummy men and their heroines inside the covers you will find hints of the story on the cover and the color of the covers along with the hints really helps me set the stage or mood for the stories. Ok, we can say it, I love the covers! I have always been a visual person and if a cover has nothing to do with the book I want to tear it up but that is not the case here. Cate’s covers kick butt.
So, let’s take a look at The Body Guards of LA County series.
The Bodyguards Of L.A. County – Cate Beauman, Best Selling Author
Book One: Morgan’s Hunter, the story of Morgan and Hunter.
Morgan Taylor, D.C. socialite and wildlife biologist, leads a charmed life until everything changes with a phone call. Her research team has been found dead—slaughtered—in backcountry Montana.
As the case grows cold, Morgan is determined to unravel the mystery behind her friends’ gruesome deaths. Despite the dangers of a murderer still free, nothing will stand in her way, not even the bodyguard her father hires, L.A.’s top close protection agent, Hunter Phillips.
Sparks fly from the start when no-nonsense Hunter clashes with Morgan’s strong-willed independence. Their endless search for answers proves hopeless—until Hunter discovers the truth.
On the run and at the mercy of a madman, Morgan and Hunter must outsmart a killer to save their own lives.
“-one thing I noticed right away was Hunter is smoking hot. This author captured his attractiveness well. Many romance authors have said their main character was good looking, but this was one of the very few times where I thought, “Wow. He’s hot!” And let me tell you blonde-haired blue eyed guys are not my type. The author deserves some serious props here.” Raven Reviewer
I loved the play on words for the book’s title, our hero is Hunter who is a close protection specialist, protecting our heroine Morgan, sometimes from herself so to speak. Morgan’s crew has been murdered and she wants answers as well as who did it, even going so far as to put herself in harm’s way. Hunter at first thinks he will be protecting another snobby shop-a- holic socialite, but at least it looks like he’ll get to spend a little time in the wilderness doing it. He should have known not to judge a book by it’s cover as his principal shows him she is really just a normal girl who can also wine and dine with the best of them in her parents D.C. world. Cate Beauman has done a great job with her twists and turns and suspense filled pages. Her characters all click together well and I felt like I was hiking through the woods right along with them with my heart pumping as danger grew near. Rock solid beginning to a new series. Book Two: Falling For Sarah, the story of Sarah and Ethan.
Widow Sarah Johnson struggled to pick up the pieces after her life was ripped apart. After two years of grieving, she’s found contentment in her thriving business as photographer to Hollywood’s A-list and in raising her angel-faced daughter, Kylee…until bodyguard and long-time friend Ethan Cooke changes everything with a searing moonlight kiss.
Sarah’s world turns upside down as she struggles with her unexpected attraction to Ethan and the guilt of betraying her husband’s memory. But when blue roses and disturbing notes start appearing on her doorstep, she has no choice but to lean on Ethan as he fights to save her from a stalker that won’t stop until he has what he prizes most.
“This story, although starting sad with Jake’s death, goes zero to sixty from there. A creepy, insane , psycho thrown in with HOT manly men always make for an awesome ride.” Inside BJ’s Head
Falling For Sarah was the first book I read in this series, it was sent in exchange for an honest review. It could be said that I don’t normally go for suspense novels but boy had I been missing out and am so glad I got the chance to read Falling For Sarah. I loved it so much I went and bought Morgan’s Hunter so I could read it too. The book starts out with sadness and as a military wife I was in tears for Sarah as she notified just hours after coming home from the hospital with her new little baby girl, that her husband, who had watched the birth via Skype overseas, was not coming home. Good thing her husband’s best friend Ethan Cooke was there to help her. As time passes they fall in love with each other but never let on how they truly feel about the other. Their feelings and frustrations are right there for the reader to feel and I love how things explode when true feelings are revealed. Then Sarah is targeted by a serial killer while leaving the beach and for Ethan it’s game on, no one is going to touch Sarah on his watch. Things get so harry with the killer that Ethan moves her into his home because he has the Cadillac of security systems. I love Ethan’s dogs, those mighty Mastiffs are a favorite breed of mine and I would love to get my hands on his pair. Then things get really interesting, mistakes are made and that’s all the spoilers I’m going to give you. Oh yes it all plays into the story and then the ending, wow, just wow!!!! I was hooked after reading this book and had to have the first book and couldn’t wait for the next, a truly must read for any mystery sleuth out there.
Book Three: Hailey’s Truth, the story of Hailey and Austin.
Hailey Roberts has never had it easy. Despite the scars of a tragic childhood, she’s made a life for herself. As a part-time student and loving nanny, she yearns for a family of her own and reluctant Austin Casey, Ethan Cooke Security’s best close protection agent.
Hailey’s past comes back to haunt her when her long lost brother tracks her down, bringing his dangerous secrets with him. At an emotional crossroads, Hailey accepts a humanitarian opportunity that throws her together with Austin, taking her hundreds of miles from her troubles, or so she thinks.
What starts out as a dream come true quickly becomes a nightmare as violence erupts on the island of Cozumel. Young women are disappearing, community members are dying—and the carnage links back to her brother.
As Austin struggles to keep Hailey’s past from destroying her future, he’s forced to make a decision that could turn her against him, or worse cost them both their lives.
“WOW. My head is in a whirl from this one. From the high intensity of Suspense, down to the oh-so yummy Romance, by far, Hailey and Austin have the hottest freaking scenes of the three books! ~ It’s so good… or I’m so bad because–I hate to admit it–I reread the hotter than Hades scenes! I could read the entire novel again, and that’s rare for me.” Hammy
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next story Hailey’s Truth. I had enjoyed meeting Hailey in Falling For Sarah and watching her crush on our hero Austin. Ahhh Austin so young and handsome, though he felt like a bit of a perv for being attracted to the young innocent angel going by the name of Hailey and did everything he could to keep his distance. Hailey is a good person always believing the best of people including her brother ( well foster brother ) who comes back into her life bringing danger to her door. Hailey is going to Cozumel to fulfill her dream of humanitarian aid and Austin is on the security team going along to help protect the group. Then Hailey’s brother shows up and things start happening that put Hailey and her entire group in danger. Austin knows her brother is part of it but Hailey won’t have any part of that and that puts a damper on Austin and Hailey’s new relationship along with things mysteriously disappearing from her co-workers rooms and Hailey is left to take the fall……right into the hands of her brother’s crime boss who decides he wants Hailey….will Austin be able to save Hailey and the day???? Ah you’ll have to read Hailey’s Truth to figure that out. Yeah I’m just that bad to tease you. Z SeawitchReviews
Book Four: Forever Alexa, the story of Alexa and Jackson.
First grade teacher and single mother Alexa Harris is no stranger to struggle, but for once, things are looking up. The school year is over and the lazy days of summer are here. Mini-vacations and relaxing twilight barbeques are on the horizon until Alexa’s free-spirited younger sister vanishes.
Ransom calls and death threats force Alexa and her young daughter to flee their quiet home in Maryland. With nowhere else to turn, Alexa seeks the help of Jackson Matthews, Ethan Cooke Security’s Risk Assessment Specialist and the man who broke her heart.
With few leads to follow and Abby’s case going cold, Alexa must confess a shocking secret if she and Jackson have any hope of saving her sister from a hell neither could have imagined.
“FOREVER ALEXA is a book that is impossible to put down. I loved the first three books in this series, Morgan’s Hunter, Falling for Sarah and Hailey’s Truth, but FOREVER ALEXA is far and above my favorite in the series. That being said, I not only recommend but encourage readers of romantic suspense to give Ms. Beauman’s books a try…..you will not be disappointed!!!” NicoleMD
OMG!!!!!!!! I just finished this book last week and let me get a Hell Yeah! Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, a real gripping story. It could have been written from todays headlines and also made me want to keep my daughters in my sight forever, safe and protected from the evils of the world. Alexa is determined to rescue her sister Abby after watching her being kidnapped from the rest area where she stopped to use the facilities. When she canna round-up the ransom money and she and her baby girl are threatened by the perpetrators, she does the only thing she can think of to keep them safe and get help for Abby. She flies to Hollywood to get help from her old college beau and the father of her daughter Jackson. Jackson is just getting home and has decided to finally put his past and the ghost of Alexa behind him and move forward. Arriving at his bosses house on his way home he is stunned to find Alexa napping on the couch. Then a little girl comes in and steals his breath and his heart away with one look, his future he just had planned out crumbles before his eyes. But there is no way on God’s Green Earth that he is going to let the woman he still loves and his child walk away and into the face of danger without him by their side. You will feel Alexa’s heartache as she searches for her sister only to have her slip through her fingers. Jackson is such a stand up guy from the first moment he meets his daughter, he’s amazing and you just have to root for this guy that things will work out for him and he’ll get the girl, well girls in this instance. The twists this story takes are full of angst and the ending is cinematic, truly makes one glad they believe in Happily Ever After! Z SeawitchReviews
Book Five: Waiting For Wren, the story of Wren Cooke and Tucker Campbell, is out now!
Wren Cooke has everything she’s ever wanted—a thriving career as one of LA’s top interior designers and a home she loves. Business trips, mockups, and her demanding clientele keep her busy, almost too busy to notice Ethan Cooke Security’s gorgeous Close Protection Agent, Tucker Campbell.
Jaded by love and relationships in general, Wren wants nothing to do with the hazel-eyed stunner and his heart-stopping grins, but Tucker is always in her way. When Wren suddenly finds herself bombarded by a mysterious man’s unwanted affections, she’s forced to turn to Tucker for help.
As Wren’s case turns from disturbing to deadly, Tucker whisks her away to his mountain home in Utah. Haunted by memories and long-ago tragedies, Tucker soon realizes his past and Wren’s present are colliding. With a killer on the loose and time running out, Tucker must discover a madman’s motives before Wren becomes his next victim.
Ok, the last book Forever Alexa was amazing and Cate has managed to hit it out of the park again with Waiting For Wren, she is truly turned into a powerhouse of romantic suspense. I just finished my digital copy of Waiting For Wren that was sent in exchange for an honest review. I’m so glad that I also have a hard copy coming from Amazon because someday I want to have Cate sign all my books, I love them so much. Here’s what I wrote last night after finishing the book
IT WAS FABULOUS!!!!!!
A real thrill ride from start to finish. You may be sitting when you read this book but believe me you will be on the edge of your seat! We all know our heroine Wren, her bother is Ethan who owns Ethan Cooke Security and she owns her own interior design business. Wren has learned from childhood that she can only count on her brother and herself, she has no time for much else besides work, her brother, his family and her few friends , heck she usually can’t even remember the names of her dates because they aren’t important to her. But she is about to spend some time with a man who won’t settle for less than everything she’s got to give.
Tucker is attracted to Wren, has been since day one when they first met. Now instead of being a cop he now works for her brother, and while Wren is also a wee bit attracted to him she uses the fact that he was a cop to try to keep her distance. When Wren needs his help as a stalker harasses her, Tucker takes her the one place he never wanted to visit again to keep her safe. Tucker takes Wren to his family’s home in Utah where his twin sister was murdered and is haunted all over again by memories of her death. Then the unthinkable happens just as Tucker and Wren seem to connect. Girls matching Staci’s age and looks start turning up dead, murdered the same way but this time the killer leaves a clue to connect the murders, Staci’s initials written in seamen on the victims bellies.
I loved the book, the chemistry between all the players, always love it when a man knows what he wants and goes about getting it. Of course I did cry some tears and my spine tingled not just the suspense but the intimate times Tucker and Wren spent together and not just between the sheets. There are twists and turns and a Red Herring in Scooby Doo speak.
I hope I have wetted your appetite for this story, I kept sneaking off to read it and had a hard time putting it down at bed time, but that’s all you get because I hate giving out spoilers, but, believe me you will love this book. Want more? Just click on a book cover and it should take you to Cate’s book page. Enjoy!
I currently live in Tennessee with my husband, two boys, and our St. Bernard, Bear. I recently resigned from my day job to concentrate on this thing I refer to as ‘My Dream Come True’ career!
I’m a pretty lucky girl; one day I woke up and my entire life changed. I saw the light, so to speak, and decided I was going to be a writer. Now, two years later, I’m working on Justice For Abby, the sixth novel in my best-selling romantic suspense series, The Bodyguards Of L.A. County.
