Finally finished going through my office shelves for the 3rd & final time. I swannee there’s nothing else I can remove….These books are used but in excellent condition. Some don’t even look as if they’ve been read.
These are what I saved out to give away here. First up we have Julia London’s Lockhart Family Highlander Trilogy: (Synopsis & Cover pics from Julia’s site)
A gold and brass statue of an ugly beastie holds a special value to the Lockhart family of the Scottish Highlands. An emerald the size of a goose egg is sealed in its belly. That emerald could be the answer to all their financial woes. The only problem is, the English stole it during one of the Border Wars, and the Lockharts must come down out of the Highlands and travel to London to get it back.
Next up is HIGHLAND OBSESSION by Dawn Halliday: (Synopsis & pic from Dawn’s site).
In the Scottish Highlands, two warriors are about to clash over a woman of passion…When the battle lines are drawn, three lovers are lured into a triangle of forbidden passions.
For the romantic suspense lover there’s HUNT HER DOWN #7 & MAKE HER PAY #8 in Roxanne St. Claire‘s Bullet Catcher Series…Each can be read as a stand-alone. Click on the title to read an excerpt at Roxanne’s site.
For the paranormal lover we have Sarah McCarty‘s WILD INSTINCT. (Synopsis from Amazon.com)
Three desperate women-hunted and on the run- bring out the animal instincts in the irresistible males who promise them more than just rescue.
Garrett-Rejected by his fellow werewolves, he never expects to find his mate in the midst of his mission. And as the heat rises between them, so do the risks.
Daire-He rejected the strict rules of werewolf society, only to fall in love with the one woman who’s been taught to fear the beast within him.
Curran-His job is to find a fugitive were-woman and bring her in. Trapping has never been a problem, but he’s never fallen in love with his bounty before.
Last but not least we have Jill Shalvis‘ CHRISTMAS IN LUCKY HARBOR which contains the first 2 novels in the Lucky Harbor Srs. ~ SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE & THE SWEETEST THING. (Synopsis and cover pic from Amazon.com)
Simply Irresistible
After losing her boyfriend and her job, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim her inheritance-a ramshackle inn nestled in the little town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. She sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if she can give the inn the makeover it needs. Enter Jax, a tall, handsome contractor who knows exactly what Maddie needs…
The Sweetest Thing
Helping her sister set up the family inn is just the thing to make Tara forget her ex-husband and focus on her new life. Until she meets a sexy, green-eyed sailor determined to keep her hot, bothered, and in his bed. When her ex reappears, Tara must confront her past and decide what she really wants.
So which book(s) would be your choice? Do you ever clean out your bookshelves? What would you never part with?
I still have the Mary Stewart Arthurian Srs. I got in high school, THE CRYSTAL CAVE, THE HOLLOW HILLS, THE LAST ENCHANTMENT, & THE WICKED DAY. The dust jackets are a bit worse for wear but I wouldn’t part with them for anything. There are a few old school bodice rippers from high school too, The Sweet Savage Love series, The Wolf and the Dove, & Love Wild and Fair. My favorites from those early historical days though are ASHES IN THE WIND and MOONSTRUCK MADNESS. Those heroines and the risks they took, their strength & independence were so amazing to me. These will always have a place on my shelves.

I need to clean out my shelves too. I do keep my favorite comfort reads. And I do read em over and over. My favorite of your books would be the bullet catchers by Roxanne St Claire. Several of my comfort reads are by Jill Shalvis.

Get a Clue was my 1st Jill Shalvis book & it’s a keeper. Laughed all thru it. Animal Magnetism is another favorite series..

I haven’t cleaned out my bookshelves in a while. I also have the Sweet Savage Love series, Ashes in the Wind, Gone With the Wind, Ashes in the Wind, and the Wolf and the Dove. I would love to have Julia London’s series.

What a great selection of books from your shelves. I am a big fan of Julia London and have read this series. St. Claire is another favorite. I have not yet read these two and would like them. The other book I like is Christmas In Lucky Harbor by Jill Shalvis. Thanks so much for the giveaway. Whoever the winners are, they will be lucky.
I do need to clean out my shelves more often. The problem is I find too many “keepers.”

I was brutal a bit over a year ago when I moved here. Got rid of over 400 books….This time it’s about 150. Consider myself to be down to “not ah, no way am I giving any more up!”
Those older historicals were so magical….It was like a time travel ticket. When I got a waitress job (13, weekends only) I used part of the money I earned on books. Joined the Doubleday & Literary Guild bookclubs.. Finally I could afford my addiction & keep them! 😀

I don’t keep many books that I’ve already read, I pass them on to friends. If I didn’t I’d wouldn’t have room to bring in more.
I would choose Sarah McCarty‘s WILD INSTINCT because I haven’t read her stories before (and I haven’t read a paranormal in a while).

Joy, a friend does that. What if you want to re-read or go back in a series & check something? There are those I pass & those I keep…

Missed your last question. Julie Garwood’s historicals are the first romances I read and still favorites. Like you, The Wolf And The Dove is a keeper. There are several Harlequin Historicals that I read early on that I have kept because they were new authors in a new genre and I really enjoyed them. I am really afraid there are too many keepers to mention.

An author who never fails to surprise me & keep me enthralled is Sara Dunant. Anybody read her? SNOWSTORMS IN A HOT CLIMATE, BIRTH OF VENUS…

I hate to clean out my shelves. I used to have boxes and boxes but after Hurricane Ike I lost so many. I don’t think I could clean out voluntarily after that. All those look like keepers but if I had to choose, it would probably be the Julia London books.

I try now to look at them like clothes I’ve outgrown or such. Some I’ll never read again.& others, for various reasons, have lost me. Lately there’ve been several series I’ve given away for that reason…..

I’d choose either Julia London’s Highlander Trilogy or the Jill Shalvis book(s) I’ve not read either set by these author’s though I’ve read some of their other books and loved them. 🙂
I don’t clean out my book shelves often enough. In fact, I’ve got a ton of Star Trek books from my SciFi obsession that I need to find good homes for. The ones I’ll never give away that I’ve had forever? The entire Laura Ingalls Wilder set, The Chronicles of Narnia; as well as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I’ve had copies of these books since I was in middle school and have reread them all. Granted it’s been years since I’ve read the Little House books or Narnia, but I still can’t bear to get rid of them. 🙂
I’ll have to add Sara Dunant to my wish list also…..

Those childhood books that stick with us…Mine was Island of the Blue Dolphins, Pippi Longstocking, & Nancy Drew…See a trend? 🙂
Be prepared Glenda…Sara Dunant isn’t romance but I’ve never been disappointed by her, surprised definitely & in a good way. Enjoy & please let me know what you think…

Love the Highlanders first but all sound pretty good. I rarely clean out my shelves but I really, really need to start organizing. I’v given some to my American Legion but I hate parting with them although I know they are going for a really good cause.

Didn’t think of the American Legion, catslady. Thanks, I’ll find one here & see if they want some of these.

I know I have a few books that I bought twice and still haven’t turned them in to the book exchange or sold them. I am a hunter and collector. Once I have them I usually want to keep them. I had to let go books twice in my life and it hurts. The first time I was 9 years old and we moved from East Germany to West Germany, the second time I was 35 and moved from Germany to Australia. I don’t want to move anymore. 😉

You’d run out of fingers & toes trying to count the times I’ve moved..Still dislike it …It’s the thrill of the hunt. I’m that way w/ some series like the Judge Dee books…So fun to look for them in used book stores.
The only ones I regret giving away are my complete set of Dell Shannon mysteries. Took me ages to get them all…*sigh*

Any of the Julia London books look good! I have most of Jill Shalvis’ books & all of Kristan Higgins books, and they are all keepers!

Mar 31, 2014 @ 20:44:24
After time I find some lose their appeal while others are still keepers. I’m gravitating more toward mystery & women’s fiction…then it’ll shift again. Always been that way & why I can’t read just one genre..:)

I do get rid of the ones that were just ok. I usually sell them at Half Price Books. Last time I took about 15 books and got $3.50 towards new books! 😉
I’d want the Roxanne St. Claire books. I love her Barefoot Bay books but have never read these.
